The Houston-Galveston Area Council Geographic Data Committee has hosted a local Harris county GIS day event since 2000.
GIS Day showcases how county and city governments, public and private industries use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to make better decisions; learn about opportunities for studying GIS at local colleges, and discover how this technology is affecting our lives. Exhibitors, map gallery, speaker presentations are provided with free entrance and parking.
We have grown and educated the general public, high school and college students about local uses of GIS. Past keynote speakers have been a US Airforce Colonel, a NASA historian, a FBI Special Agent in Charge, a Rice University Professor, among others, speaking about how GIS affects our lives. We know all our organizations are being affected by budgetary cutbacks. We know your time is being utilized to its fullest. But won’t you participate in GIS Day 2011 at LoneStar College – CyFair November 10, 2011? Be an exhibitor, a sponsor, enter a map in the map gallery, listen to paper presentations, and plan to attend the event.
The venue is a beautiful campus and the college staff has graciously offered its facility and staff to promote the continued education of GIS. We can not host a great event without your continued support and participation.
Please look at the event website: www.HoustonAreaGISDay.org and make your reservation and/or sponsorship donation now to participate in GIS Day 2011. Your organization can be a sponsor, an exhibitor, enter in the map gallery, make a speaker presentation or volunteer. Your attendance on the day of the event would be greatly appreciated.
