East Pennsboro Township to use Rapid Response System for Alert Notification

January 21, 2012 By Editor

(Jan. 18, 2012/Harrisburg, Pa.) GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions, has been selected by East Pennsboro Township, Pa., to implement its Rapid Response™ emergency notification system. Rapid Response is an alert notification system designed to deliver high-speed phone, email, or text messages to township residents.

East Pennsboro Township is the second largest municipality in Cumberland County with approximately 20,000 residents and an additional 12,000 daily commuters. The need to share information more quickly and efficiently with its residents, employers, and business owners often presents a challenge. With its user-friendly, web-based interface, Rapid Response has the capacity to deliver up to 120,000 phone calls per hour, in addition to providing high-speed email and text messaging capabilities.

Rapid Response empowers users to generate precise alert lists and send automated messages from computers and mobile devices during emergency events. East Pennsboro’s software will serve approximately 10,000 accounts and will be used primarily by the township’s police department to notify the public of snow emergencies, police events, street closures, floods, and fires.

GeoDecisions will integrate Rapid Response with East Pennsboro’s existing GeoPlan® software, tying the two applications together for improved efficiency. GeoPlan is GeoDecisions’ comprehensive data management and geographic information system (GIS) solution for municipalities. It is an effective platform for integrating and coordinating interdepartmental activities and managing data. The Rapid Response-GeoPlan integration will provide East Pennsboro with the ability to keep its account records and web-mapping interface up to date.

GeoDecisions’ experienced staff of professional consultants, analysts, and developers support clients worldwide. Fundamental to the company’s award-winning approach is the integration of spatial information to empower existing systems and processes. GeoDecisions’ philosophy is based on an enterprisewide approach to the integration of diverse information technologies, data formats, and systems.

GeoDecisions is ISO 9001:2008 Certified.
