Gexcel Srl Releases Vehicle Mounted Fully Automated Scanning

 11th September, 2012, Brescia, Italy- An advanced capability version of Gexcel Srl’s popular JRC 3D Reconstructor® software is now available with a comprehensive Stop & Go scanner control and acquisition package for most commercially available terrestrial 3D lidar scanners. Perfect for mining and quarry volume rectification, city mapping and any other high density safety critical applications, this new system allows the installation of a laser scanner onto a vehicle to gather multiple scans which are automatically georeferenced and prepared for further automated post processing applications packages such as JRC 3D Reconstructor® Mining/Tunnelling, Construction, Heritage/Architectural etc.

The Stop & Go package is available in two variants: the first allowing for precise scanner tracking by a total station, resulting in highly accurate pointcloud registration; the second provide a fully automated solution with complete specialized precision GNSS hardware and software for high accuracy location determination using multiple GNSS antennas working in connection with network based or associated base station RTK correction. Both the solutions include the JRC 3D Reconstructor® Mining/Tunnelling software. In both configurations, the hardware system is mounted on a vehicle unit platform (provided by Gexcel Srl), and the collected data is delivered in many standard formats, fully corrected and georeferenced.

Gexcel Srl has a rich history spanning more than 10 years of proven fully featured lidar and imagery analysis software packages with the JRC 3D Reconstructor®, completely compatible with all terrestrial, mobile and airborne scanners from manufacturers such as Faro, Leica, MDL, Optech, Riegl, Topcon, Trimble and Z+F. Gexcel Srl is a spin off company of the University of Brescia, established in 2007 from the academic know-how of the University and the applied research achievements of the European Joint Research Centre (JRC), located in Ispra (Italy). Gexcel Srl is proud to support all major standard formats such as the ASTM E57 and LAS.
