Intermap Delivers Increased Value with NEXTMap World 30 v2.0

Intermap Delivers Increased Value with NEXTMap® World 30™ v2.0 – – Elevation Data Integrates Seamlessly with Intermap’s Orion Platform™ –

DENVER, Aug. 21, 2013  – (TSX: IMP) – Intermap Technologies® today announced the availability of NEXTMap World 30 v2.0, the world’s most accurate global terrain product. NEXTMAP World 30 v2.0 is available for license via an Application Programming Interface (API) or via Intermap’s cloud-based WebStore™. This latest version of the NEXTMap World 30 product is up to three times more accurate than competing global Digital Elevation Models (DEM) such as NASA’s Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) data and Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM). It integrates seamlessly with Intermap’s recently announced Orion Platform and provides a foundation data layer for the Company’s web-based 3D Business Intelligence (3DBI®) applications.

"One of the most exciting features of NEXTMap World 30 is that it can be purchased, downloaded and used in the same day," said Todd Oseth, Intermap’s president and CEO. "This means that as the hurricane and cyclone seasons approach, governments and industries around the world can instantly access the data they need for immediate risk management planning purposes."

In addition to its web availability, World 30 v2.0 has two distinct improvements. World 30 v2.0 has removed errors native to the ASTER GDEM v2 data in over 3,000 one-degree tiles north of 60 degrees latitude. For an average customer, using 80,000 square kilometers of global terrain data, these improvements will save at least 15 hours of manual editing time to correct the errors. Additionally, the overall vertical accuracy of v2.0 has been improved by over 10 centimeters to a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of just 7 meters globally.

Intermap’s customers and partners are excited about World 30 v2.0. Kent D. Lee, Founder and CEO of East View Geospatial, an Intermap partner, said, "East View is pleased to offer NEXTMap World 30 v2.0 to our global customer base. Intermap’s authoritative, consistently updated, global terrain product sells well to our long-standing GIS customers and university markets around the world. We have supplied more Intermap data in the past few months than the past several years combined, reflecting the product enhancements."  Rob Eadie, with Intermap partner Mapmart, says, ”We have found many new opportunities in emerging markets with the advent of the NEXTMap World 30 DEM data product.”

NEXTMap World 30 pricing starts at $0.15 per square kilometer and can be as low as $0.01 per square kilometer based on the size of purchase. A sample of NEXTMap World 30 v2.0 can be found at http://www.intermap.com/solutions/World30.aspx.

The three key benefits of NEXTMap World 30 v2.0 are:

Accuracy:   The improved World 30 v2.0 DEM utilizes over 204 million ground control points with an accuracy of 25cm RMSE or better, to control the vertical elevation of an aggregated surface model derived from ASTER GDEM v2, SRTM v2.1 and GTOPO30. The corrected DEMs were combined with Intermap’s proprietary data fusion technology, to create a seamless, void-filled and consistent dataset with a global accuracy of 7 meters RMSE.
Coverage:   Intermap has applied its extensive terrain elevation knowledge and data fusion capabilities to create an application-ready product for the entire globe. All voids or anomalies found in the native SRTM or ASTER data have been meticulously removed and repaired in the World 30 dataset.
Access:  Data is available instantly: (1) via the cloud as an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant Web Map Service (WMS) or Web Coverage Service (WCS) dataset, (2) via API, or (3) for purchase at Intermap’s WebStore: https://store.intermap.com/MapShop.aspx?GeoLocation=World
