Tholen is a municipality in the southwest of the Netherlands made up of two peninsulas, formerly islands called Tholen and Sint Philipsland. Like much of the country, the area is vulnerable to flooding. The municipality has a population of over 25,000 within a service area of 254 km2, over 100 km2 of which is water.
