Topcon adds new features to HiPer SR

October 9, 2013 By Editor

LIVERMORE, Calif., USA/ CAPELLE A/D IJSSEL, The Netherlands – October 8, 2013 – When introduced in 2012, Topcon’s HiPer SR changed the standard for GNSS RTK receivers by introducing the most compact, lightweight design of any fully integrated precision receiver on the market.

Now, features have been added, including a cellular modem option and a dual SIM cellular card, to enable interruption-free use of the site receiver.

The new HiPer SR has two communications options: Topcon’s LongLink™ technology for interference-free wireless connection for shorter range use (up to 300m/984ft) and cellular modem for longer range work, including use as base and rover in RTK solutions.

“For use in cellular mode, the addition of dual SIM cards provides a seamless switch between networks. This provides the perfect setup, for projects such as 3D mapping,” said Scott Langbein, director of product marketing.

Additional new solutions from Topcon, including the MAGNET™ Relay RTK service, allows the HiPer SR to be used as a mobile RTK base “relaying” corrections from the base to up to 10 rovers, through the MAGNET Enterprise “cloud.”

“Features of the original HiPer SR continue to make the receiver the perfect measurement and mapping tool for a variety of professionals. Instrument features include Topcon’s exclusive 226-channel Vanguard™ technology with Universal Tracking™.”

The HiPer SR also includes Topcon’s patented Fence Antenna™ technology that provides industry-leading signal tracking sensitivity and multi-path rejection.

“Real-time kinetic GNSS instruments have changed 3D mapping and construction staking,” he said. “Today, with the new HiPer SR, you can be assured of having a quick setup time and performing productive, accurate work on any job site, regardless of terrain or conditions.

“In the past, this performance came with a price that put the technology out of reach for many professionals, but with the new HiPer SR, that is no longer an issue.”

Langbein said, “From the small contractor looking for an ideal staking tool, to a surveyor who needs an affordable one-man instrument, to an investigator working in forensics, to landscape architects, or a GIS professional looking for a simple 3D solution, the new HiPer SR is the right solution. It also integrates seamlessly into Topcon’s Hybrid Positioning solution, which allows for the smooth and combined use of various technologies, such as optical total stations and GNSS receivers.

“The HiPer SR provides around-the-corner technology in a ultra-compact, rugged, environmentally sealed and cable free design,” said Langbein. “You don’t have to sacrifice durability when buying an affordable instrument.”
