Exelis ranked No. 1 Top Performing Company by Aviation Week

May 12, 2014 By Editor

MCLEAN, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–May 12, 2014— Exelis (NYSE: XLS) was ranked No. 1 in Aviation Week’s 2014Top-Performing Company study in the $1 billion to $5 billion revenue category.

The annual Aviation Week Top-Performing Companies study examines more than 50 aerospace and defense companies. The study analyzes the operational performance and business strategy execution of the publicly-traded companies among other factors.

"Exelis emerged as the top-ranked company on the basis of management’s effective realignment of the organization’s electronics-related businesses following the spin-off from ITT in 2011," according to Aviation Week’s article on the study.

In 2013, Exelis was ranked as the No. 2 Top-Performing Company for its 2012 performance among companies with revenues between $5 billion and $20 billion.

"This accomplishment was made possible by our employees, whose dedication and expertise allowed us to earn new business, perform on contracts, manage our costs, and develop the next generation of solutions for our customers," said Exelis Chief Executive Officer and President David Melcher. "Despite a challenging market environment, we will use this recognition as an inspiration to bring even more value to our customers and shareholders in the coming year."

The complete Top-Performing Companies study rankings can be found online and in the May 5 print edition of Aviation Week & Space Technology.
