Here’s a question: what do “unforgettable,” “special,” and “I cried… it was so beautiful,” all have in common?

Easy!

They’re all things you’ll love hearing guests say about your wedding day. That, and how much fun it was of course.

If this is something you strive for, keep reading. We’ve got a ton of next level décor ideas bound to make your special day stand out.

But first…

Before You Get Started

…you need to consider these two important things: budget and theme.

We’re firm believers that you can have a gorgeous memorable wedding on any budget, which is why we’re including a budget friendly option for each of our ideas here.

Theme is important too. You want your guests to remember your special day for the right reasons. For example (unless you’re a diehard circus fan, and have warned your guests in the invite) dressing your bridesmaids up like clowns will be memorable – because 42% of your guests will be utterly terrified.

Decorations Details

What you pick to showcase your special day matters. The details are what make the overall experience, and include:

  • Lighting
  • Flowers
  • Textiles
  • Table settings
  • Dresses (yours and your bridesmaids!)
  • Music & entertainment
  • Food & drink

We’ve got some killer tips to transform each from “oh,” to “wow!”

Bear in mind, not all of these ideas are suitable for every theme. The purpose is to get your creativity flowing by sharing ways to make your venue pop – clowns not included.

Lighting

Nothing quite sets the mood like lighting.

Most wedding venues typically have excellent lighting, but why not elevate it a little more by upping the twinkle factor? Fairy lights or tea lights can literally transform a space, make it way more magical and special.

You can get battery powered strands of soft gold lighting, perfect for wrapping around tree branches, fence posts, or the arbor you’re saying “I do,” underneath.

If you’re getting married indoors, wind the lights around the architectural elements found in the venue such as banisters, or bring empty wooden picture frames and create a glittering feature wall.

Let your imagination take the lead.

Tea lights can be placed in mason jars or recycled pasta jars, just be sure to peel off the sticker first. Cinch some ribbon or twine around the jar, and voila. You’ve made it a little more special.

Flower Power

There’s nothing like a bouquet of gorgeous blooms to instantly make a space feel glam.

If you have a large budget, arrange in glorious centerpieces. Or, take it up a notch (literally!) and create a floral ceiling or wall.

Let your flowers play into the theme. Sunflowers are perfect for a country wedding; a single sunflower in a jar of wheat looks lovely.

Dried flowers mixed with sprigs of greenery are perfect for a more rustic feel.

If you love propagating, decorate with little succulents you grew in clay pots.

Working with a small budget? Use clippings from manzanita, sage, or whatever other greenery is found locally. Just make sure you have permission to harvest first. You’d be amazed at how easy it is to elevate a space using greenery with little to no budget.

Textiles

Lace, silk, gauze… all of these soft flowy fabrics look so soft and romantic when woven into your décor.

Whether it’s in strips hanging from tree branches for your forest wedding, or suspended from the ceiling at different lengths.

Just like lights, textiles can make the space pop by adding a gentle, personal quality.

Small budget? Strips of painters’ cloth works in a pinch, as do fabrics found at your local thrift store.

Table Setting

Your table setting is a perfect way to express your theme, and can really make it pop.

Spray paint jars with gold stencil, and place a tea light in the center. Include driftwood and cactus in ceramic pots for your boho vibe.

If you want something minimalist, consider monochromatic floral arrangements or white candles in simple candle holders.

Dress

Now, we’re going to go out on a limb here and assume you’ve got your dress handled.

How about bridesmaid dresses?

Don’t settle for something subpar, instead use the dresses to play into the theme and look of the wedding. Bella Bridesmaids has the best selection around. Featuring hundreds of designs from the biggest names in the biz, you can pursue their selection online, or visit their website to find a retailer closest to you.

Seeing is believing; their collection has everything you could imagine.

The other senses

As visual beings, people tend to focus on what’s visible, forgetting other senses. Music – whether a live band or DJ – is an excellent way to play up the vibe. Think about the playlist. Do you want your guests to dance? Shed a tear? Both? Music is a powerful way to influence emotions, use it to your advantage.

Food is important too. How it looks, smells, tastes…

Conclusion:

Combined, all of these details make up the décor, which create the overall experience.

Have fun, pick the pieces you love, and remember – there’s no ‘wrong’ way to do it.
