Is There The Best Way To Keep Track of Employee Hours?

February 20, 2023 By GISuser

When you have a company, monitoring employees working hours is very significant. You have to be precise because otherwise, everything can result in losses. Also, there are penalties for companies that do not work under the law on overtime, wages, etc. That is why you must use the best employee time tracking software to make your job easier – and that you do not cut off on anyone when calculating the payment. And what is the best way to keep track of employee hours? Let’s try to point out some possible solutions.

Why is Employee Time Tracking Important?

For every company, regardless of whether you are an entrepreneur, small or large company – tracking the time of employees is of great importance. First of all, employers need to know how much time is needed to perform specific tasks – but also because they would have an insight into who in their team works with greater or less efficiency. Therefore, choosing the best employee time-tracking software is significant to employers to effectively allocate the duties of employees. It will also help them estimate the productivity and efficiency of employees. In this sense, the use of time-tracking software is a tool for the so-called micromanagement of companies in which the work process is completely transparent.

What’s the Best Way to Track Time?

Fortunately, today, modern technology has offered us many different solutions for employee time-tracking. It is up to you to choose the solution that best suits the needs of your company and the work you do. Before implementing any particular system, answer all the questions that may be important to you. For example, does your company have a lot of employees or not? Do you have employees who work remotely or in the field outside? All these can be parameters that will help you in making a decision. Then, you can opt for different options such as

  • Manual timing or Excel spreadsheets

This option has been somewhat forgotten – but it is still used in small companies. Namely, if you don’t have many employees, this can be a solution, but we believe not permanently. Namely, an Excel spreadsheet can serve you well as a method of tracking employee time – but as the company expands and grows, this will soon not be enough. Also, this is not an option that guarantees accuracy in tracking employees’ working hours. Errors, as well as reduced control capacity, are the most common reasons why employers give up this option.

  • Time-tracking apps

Time-tracking apps are currently the best employee time-tracking software. Apps such as Buddy Punch or similar are the most effective method of controlling employees’ time. The main advantages are automation and simplified use. Also, keeping databases with information is important – because ultimately, these systems have implemented structures for calculating wages, overtime hours, etc. In addition, these applications are compatible with multiple platforms – so you can use them on a desktop computer and also on portable devices such as laptops or smartphones.

  • Time Clocks

The time clock method is something that many companies still use. Although many claim that it has proven effective – it still has some drawbacks. Namely, if your company has employees who work remotely – this system is of no use. Also, the installation of such systems is not exactly cheap – and you have to set them up with other systems you use within the company. Today’s modern time-clocks also have the option of digital fingerprint or facial recognition – but it all makes sense when your employees work in the same office building.

Conclusion

Whatever option you choose for time tracking of your employees, make sure it is suitable for the needs of your company. Try to find the best employee time-tracking software that will be easy to use, and if possible, have some other features that will help you calculate overtime hours, calculate salaries, etc.
