The Demand for Bitcoin-backed NFTs is Increasing

June 17, 2022 By GISuser

As the Non-Fungible Token-backed commodity continues to raise dust in the cryptocurrency commodity niche, there has been an uproar about introducing a Bitcoin-backed NFTs. An NFT that you can buy with Bitcoin instead of the conventional Ethereum. As in a situation where people can buy bitcoin to acquire an NFT. And if this happens, this may trigger fierce competition between the already existing NFT projects like the Solana and Ethereum blockchains. This idea seems to be gaining a lot of attention because there have been some upgrades in recent times, the latest one being the Taproot upgrade. This upgrade and more are believed to be used in an NFT propelled by the Bitcoin blockchain.

In another report, it was said that modalities are in place to equip the Bitcoin network with the necessary features that will make it possible to facilitate the existence of Defi NFTs and a few other products that are powered by smart contracts. This is good news for those who buy bitcoin on various crypto platforms. It will enable them to make more use of their coins and diversify the use of crypto assets. And from the look of things, most cryptocurrency exchanges might also leverage this opportunity and create a service around this new invention. But you have to note that the proposed Bitcoin NFT does not exactly work on the Bitcoin blockchain as applicable on the ERC721 tokens.

These NFTs are meant to be secured by the Bitcoin blockchain network. They support extra tech stacks, which facilitate the operations of the NFT and support the Bitcoin integration. And some projects also support the operations, e.g., the Stacks, the Liquid Network, and Counterparty. But let’s look at it the other way round since Bitcoin is incredibly liquid and has quite a reputation in terms of security and efficiency. NFT that runs on such a blockchain network will generate much attention. Investors might want to reduce how they buy bitcoin and channel their attention to the latest invention: Bitcoin-induced NFTs.

Before you Buy Bitcoin, Understand the Real Potential

The proposed Bitcoin NFT is not the only project that has tapped into Bitcoin’s potential. The liquidity on Bitcoin enhances the total user experience and facilitates solutions that help Bitcoin wallets to have NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain. Let’s give a practical example here; Stacks has a layer-1 scaling solution for BTC and now permits users to buy and transact NFTs through a Bitcoin channel. It also allows users to mint NFTs while on the Bitcoin blocks via different smart contracts.

Even before the Bitcoin NFT was suggested, many new NFTs emerged across different blockchain networks in the NFT ecosystem. The increasing popularity of the Bitcoin NFT came as a result of the numerous challenges experienced in the Ethereum operations. One of them is directly connected to gas fees, and others also believe it is very slow in the transaction.

The Growing Rate of Bitcoin NFTs

The Bitcoin NFT marketplace has begun to emerge; one of them is the STXNFT. It is one of the fast-rising marketplaces, and its reputation has surged over the years. There are still others, though, but STXNFT is leading the emerging domination of the Bitcoin NFT marketplace. In STXNFT, you don’t only buy bitcoin; you can also participate in making Bitcoin NFT run safely on a Bitcoin blockchain. The STXNFT platform was launched in 2021 and ever since then has been a major force to reckon with as far as Bitcoin NFT is concerned. So far, about five of the company’s projects have recorded a considerable increase of over $100,000 through different minting activities by clients.

Reports also show that the platform has over 200 special NFT collections listed on its platform. Again, it was also reported that many other NFT projects on the STXNFT marketplace have already generated over $2 million in what they called “secondary sales.”

Whether you buy bitcoin as an investor or deal with crypto as a normal trader, you must realize that huge opportunity await this latest development; the bitcoin NFT will surely be massive. Companies like the STXNFT have also started leveraging this opportunity which is evident in the launch of their new Gamma.io: a Web3 social identity hub that NFTs propel.
