GIS & Assessment Communities Poised to Gather in New Orleans

December 15, 2021 By GISuser

Des Plaines, IL (December 15, 2021) For twenty-five years, URISA and the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) have collaborated to co-host the GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference (formerly known as GIS/CAMA).

This conference has been the favorite annual event for Assessors and the GIS professionals who apply technology to make property assessment and tax administration more accurate and efficient.  The conference will feature an abundance of educational sessions, panel discussions, and opportunities to connect with partners and fellow attendees.

Optional workshops will provide deep-dives into a number of important topics (attendance at one workshop is included with full registration):

Saturday & Sunday, March 26 & 27 (8:00am-5:00pm each day)

  • Residential Modeling Using SPSS or R

Sunday, March 27

  • 8:00am – 12:00pm: Uncovering Patterns and Modeling Relationships in Valuation Data Using ESRI Insights and GIS
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm: Reading Legal Descriptions
  • 1:00pm – 5:00pm: Making Neighborhood AVMs in Excel
  • 1:00pm – 5:00pm: Preparing Commercial Real Estate Tax Appeals

Featured keynote speakers will provide thought leadership and set the tone:

  • Monday, March 28: Jack Dangermond, President, Esri
  • Tuesday, March 29: Team from Water Wise Gulf South
  • Wednesday, March 30: Dr. Johnny Finn

The agenda features sessions organized in four program tracks:

  • GIS Technologies
  • Modeling & Valuation
  • Leadership Development & Policy
  • Technology Showcase

To round out the conference experience, attendees will be able to discover solutions in the Exhibit Hall; connect with fellow attendees and expand their professional networks; and take advantage of self-paced learning in the Esri Learning Lab.

URISA and IAAO are so excited to be back to in-person conferences after a two-year absence and are committed to hosting safe and top-quality events. All participants must be fully vaccinated in order to attend.

The conference will take place at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. Note that the 2022 NCAA Men’s Final Four Basketball Tournament begins in New Orleans on April 2, immediately following the conference, so participants are encouraged to make travel plans early.

Registration is open and early bird discounts are available until January 24. Sponsorship opportunities will be detailed soon.
