Men’s Leather Bracelets: A fascinating guide

July 12, 2021 By Editor

In recent years, we have seen quite a resurgence in the popularity of leather bracelets, especially among men in the age groups of mid 20s and 30s.While you would normally spot these leather bracelets on the arms of the bikers, adventurers, surfers and rock band members for sure!

What we don’t see are the male executives taking leather bracelets with their office suits! But this has changed. Yes you read that right!

There is just something very masculine about the addition of these bracelets that can essentially be described as tough and rugged. They exude a sartorial elegance.

Adding a leather bracelet to your suit and trousers combo has been swiped right by the fashion gurus.

Leather bracelets actually enhance an outfit’s overall elegance. You can check this site to find an amazing collection of bracelets, from leather bracelets for men to some nice Pearl bracelets they have a lot to offer both the genders.

But it should be duly noted at this point, while certainly these “toughed up” accessories are au courant and fashionable; men’s leather bracelets have been around for almost as long as humans have walked on this planet.

So, how long have leather bracelets been around?

While no one is certain as to the exact timeline and the place as to where they actually came from. But it is safe to say that they have been around since the Neolithic period (10,000-4,500 BCE). Because around this time humans already knew how to use animal skins for clothing, footwear and bones for jewellery; but the actual technical innovation of tanning later on led to the development of more comfortable and sophisticated designs for footwear and physical ornamentation.

Experts also suggest that leather bracelets may have evolved from longer leather sleeves and shin guards that were worn to protect your limbs from the weather elements or attackers. Over time their practical usage gave way to a more rarefied use as marking one’s status and power in society or making political statements.

Most of men’s bracelets fall into three categories, they are:

  • Wide bands: These kinds of leather bracelets call to mind a bug, burly and muscular type man whose creative aesthetic runs to a darker slant; the hard core bikers and heavy metal musicians! While many wide leather bands tend to be plain with a sterling silver buckling, these are given a more elaborate appearance through intimidating engraved motifs.

  • Brown Leather Bracelets: The brown leather bracelets tend to exude a more sophisticated vibe. They are the exact kind of bracelets you can easily take to your office meetings paired neatly with a watch. The dark neutral tone of these bracelets always do the trick even if you team it with jeans and a t-shirt. Your brunch to date accessory is what a brown leather bracelet is!

  • Rope-style Leather Bracelets: These bracelets were used to be considered standard among the non-conformist groups such as the surfers and skaters. But they gradually creeped inside and with time their sartorial value has touched new heights! Men who are into fashion, especially the social media influencers have been widely sporting rope-style or woven bracelets made of leather. Rope leather bracelets give a sense of actual elegance and a vibe of playful fun.
