Should you feed senior dog Orijen dry food?

June 3, 2021 By Editor

The abundance of various dry Orijen dog food on the market, one way or another, becomes the reason for a logical question: is it possible to feed a dog only with them, completely excluding ordinary “human” food from the diet? At first glance, incomprehensible dry granules should not fully replace natural vegetables and meat, but is this really so? The easiest way to understand this is by simply highlighting the pros and cons of such a diet.

Dry Orijen food for senior dogs

Pros

  • Dry Orijen food for senior dogs saves time. Indeed, you do not need to spend time looking for and buying ingredients and further cooking for your pet. And just one large pack of Orijen food for small breeds will last for several days, or even weeks.
  • Despite its less appealing appearance, high-quality dry food is carefully balanced to provide all the essential nutrients in the right proportions. It even includes important compounds that may be present only in small amounts in natural products, such as omega 3 for dogs, which supports healthy skin, coat, and overall well-being.
  • Its composition already includes additional vitamins and minerals necessary for the health of the animal, that is, it is not required to purchase the appropriate nutritional supplements separately.
  • It’s easy to diversify your diet by offering your pets different flavors so that they don’t have time to get bored.
  • You can easily select the appropriate composition. If required there are not only ORIJEN Senior dog food lines that take into account the characteristics of the body of dogs of different ages, but also breeds, as well as individual options for pets with allergies or for those who follow a diet.
  • It is convenient to divide dry Orijen Senior pet food for large breeds into portions. Most often, recommendations for the size and number of servings, depending on the weight and age of the dog, are indicated directly on the package.
  • You can easily take it with you on the road on a long trip.
  • Given the number of useful components in the composition, feed is much cheaper than conventional products with a similar quality.
  • There is practically no need to supplement dry dog food with other products. The only exception is pure water, but if you wish, you can additionally treat your beloved dog with various treats or wet dog food recall alert.

Minuses

  1. Not all dry pet food contains a complete list of essential substances, which negatively affects the health and appearance of the dog. This is especially true for economy-class feeds – the cheapest brands sold even in non-specialized stores.
  2. Cheap food often compensates for the low meat content with flavorings and colors, which can cause allergies in some pets. At the same time, it turns out to be quite difficult to transfer them to more expensive dry food, since its natural taste after the increased aroma will seem unattractive.
  3. When switching to dry senior food, it is undesirable to combine them with natural products, as this can cause digestive problems and imbalance in the grain-free diet for senior dogs. The surest step is to supplement the base with wet food from the same manufacturer and line.

one large pack of Orijen food for small breeds

As you can see, all the main disadvantages of dry food are not related to the structure itself, but to the quality of the components used.

We have already written about what classes of dry dog food are, and how they differ. So, super-premium ORIJEN Senior food and, moreover, holistic food for small and large breeds is an excellent choice for a complete, healthy diet for your four-footed friend. Such a diet differs from most “regular” foods (especially if the owner feeds his dog the same as he eats) even for the better, since manufacturers of high-quality orijen senior dog food review take here into account the characteristics and needs of the animal’s body. At the same time, “human” food may not contain the required volume of one or another component.

As for inexpensive senior dog food, even if they are produced under a well-known brand, they not only lack the balance of components, but also use various additives, for example, instead of full-fledged meat the composition always contains by-products of unknown origin.

And as a conclusion, we emphasize once again: feeding a dog with dry food is not only possible, but also necessary. However, only if the feed itself is of high quality.
