Obesity Contributing Factors – Is Obesity Genetic?

In Maharashtra, every sixth adult male and seventh adult female is overweight or obese. In urban Mumbai, these numbers are on rise, where every third female is obese, state officials said they are worried about the condition of obesity. A study has shown that Mumbaikar’s are under the dual threat of hypertension and obesity. According to a survey conducted by Indus Health Plus on 35,662 individuals who underwent preventive health check-ups, 15% were found to be at risk of obesity and its related conditions. Unhealthy diets are one of many factors that can cause obesity, but most people tend to focus more on genetic factor.

Early Life Factor– Prenatal or postnatal factor can also trigger obesity. Many pregnant mums who are overweight may give birth to obese individuals. Increased weight during infancy may also contribute to the rise of obesity.

Illness– Some illness may also trigger obesity or body weight. Diseases like polycystic ovary syndrome is another factor to consider.

Unhealthy Meals– Diets with high carbs and high fats may also result in excessive weight gain. Unhealthy diets like sugary drinks, red meat and more play a vital role in obesity. Most people do not eat fruits, whole grains, nuts, and vegetables anymore. They prefer the excess fats meals that can trigger obesity.

Drugs– The nature of drugs used can also be responsible for obesity. For instance, a drug such as steroids and some antidepressants may result in excess weight gain.

Less Exercise– Many people who do not indulge in physical exercise may suffer from obesity. Lack of regular exercise is one of the major factors responsible for body weight. Regular exercise like walking, running, swimming and more can protect you against obesity.

Individuals suffering from obesity may likely have other diseases like type 2diabetes, high sugar level, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and more. This may lead to an unhealthy and severe health condition. This takes us to how well you can prevent obesity to avoid healthy failure.

How to Prevent Obesity?

Now, you may be wondering how you can remedy the issue of obesity. The reality is that you can do away with excess weight gain if you follow the natural and right strategy. Preventing obesity in humans, most especially adults involve several factors.

Below are some of the things you should do to remedy obesity;

Engage in Regular Exercise– It is important, you indulge in physical exercise like jumping, running, walking or swimming This help to reduce weight gain. You can also utilize a weight loss supplement that is recommended by your doctor.

Reduce Fat Consumption– Another way you can prevent obesity is to control your fat intake. Avoid saturated fat intake at all time. Abstain from diets with excessive fats and drinks with too much sugar. This is another way you can reduce weight gain.

Eat healthy Meals– You need to do away with unhealthy diets. Always eat low carbs and low-fat meals like fruits, whole grains and protein-rich foods. Void junk foods like snacks. This would greatly influence your weight to lose plan.
