Annual Conference set to share how GIS is being used by Esri customers to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges, from wrestling with a pandemic to tackling climate change

UK – 4 June 2021 — Esri UK, a national leader in location intelligence, has announced the line-up for its forthcoming Annual Conference on June 8th. The UK-focused event will be held virtually and will showcase key customer stories from the likes of Homes England, Transport for West Midlands, Natural Resources Wales and Forestry and Land Scotland.

The conference will reflect on the upheaval, and the new challenges, which have emerged over the last year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. GIS technology has been at the forefront of the transformational impact taking place across many sectors, striving to help keep operations and infrastructure running during this turbulent time.

The conference will also provide a platform for key Esri customers to share their stories from the past year.

Speakers include:

James Fletcher and Celia Igreja – Forestry and Land Scotland

Discussing how the organisation uses ArcGIS in the field as part of a critical programme to survey ash trees and analyse the impact of the devastating Ash Dieback disease.

Helena Sykes & Adam Burke – Natural Resources Wales

Exploring how the organisation is using ArcGIS Drone2Map to help it improve its conservation programmes, monitor the implementation of flood intervention schemes and improve the management of Wales’ precious natural resources.

Stuart Lester – Transport for West Midlands

Sharing how the organisation combines live transport data from 17 public and private sector partners with crowd-sourced information, to create a single view of emerging issues across all modes of transport.

Fiona Clowes and Mariano Palomares – Homes England

Learning how the versatile new app creation tool ArcGIS Experience Builderm helped Homes England engage more effectively with housing developers to accelerate the supply of new homes.

Madeleine Alston and Tim Buckley – Alcis

In advance of the upcoming conference, Stuart Bonthrone, CEO of Esri UK said: “At this year’s conference we’ll be reflecting on the international upheaval, and the new challenges brought on by the pandemic.

The last 12 months upended every organisation around the world and everyone on the planet has had to adapt. We have been so fortunate to see how innovative and versatile Esri users can be in helping to solve new and unexpected challenges and it’s a real privilege to have our customers share their stories with us.

From here, we now face an even bigger challenge – climate change. By living with and accommodating sustainability in our lives as much as we can, this is how we can begin to heal our planet.

The conference will set out Esri UK’s intentions and outline the potential GIS technology has to reduce or mitigate climate impact, whilst also improving sustainable outcomes. The conference will build on existing customer success stories that highlight the potential power of the technology. Conversations will focus on how Esri UK can equip its communities to use GIS’ scale and potential to help restore the environment in 2021 and beyond.
