Residential Proxies: Are there any benefits?

November 18, 2020 By Editor

The internet is a risky and vast place with millions of devices logged in. Each of the locations are tracked and referred to their IP addresses.

When you go online, you’re providing your information – it means that you cannot do anything private. Unless you use a proxy. If you google it a bit, you’ll easily come across the use of proxies. What can a proxy do for you? Hide you IP address while navigating on the internet. But there’s more to proxy servers than meets the eyes. Much more – when you use it, you’re basically surrendering your IP address to the proxy server, while visiting websites or do other online activities. This process will make you anonymous to the sites you’re accessing. Here’s what a proxy can do for you.

Residential Proxies: Are there any benefits?

You’re not as safe as you think

There isn’t a doubt that nothing has changed us in the way that internet did. The biggest impact is how the internet created a necessity for us to have an online presence, which can bring both benefits and hazards. People talk about how social media is a threat to all of us, but how many of us consider what activities we choose to do online? The many times we post a picture on Instagram, do we think about the consequences? About the many fake accounts using other people’s pictures but with different names? Perhaps not. It’s in our nature to contempt the boundaries we create to protect us. Unfortunately, this is the sad true of life online. Cyber-harassment doesn’t grab our attention anymore, unless something really horrifying happens to us. How can you confront an anonymous criminal? You can avoid being a victim of social media’s delinquents by installing a proxy now.

What is a proxy?

A residential proxy works as an intermediate between your IP address and the network. A proxy comes from the ISP (internet service provider), which connects the user to a physical location. For instance, if you work remotely and deal with a lot of sensitive information, documents, and other important folders, you’re likely to be more “interesting” in the eyes of a hacker. What is hacking? It refers to online activities that pursue to compromise digital services, including smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets, etc. Cybercriminals and hackers are motivated by someone’s financial gain, spying, information gathering, or worse, just for fun. Common hacking techniques include:

  • Viruses
  • Rootkits
  • DDoS attacks (Denial of service)
  • Browser hijacks
  • Ransomware
  • Trojans

As such, hacking has become a “million-dollar business” that develops and sells hacking tools and products. It is crucial to use a system that can protect your online activity – static residential proxies. They’re designed to ensure your anonymity online, making users immune to cyberattacks.

Should you use a proxy?

Of course. As with everything you do online, there is a constant need to think before you click. There are many proxies out there with good reviews and trusted brands. It’s better to be safe, than sorry. Proxies are the safer solution for assuring your security and safety online.
