Workshop Proposals: Full-day and half-day workshops are invited at all levels of expertise, from beginner to expert.  Learning objectives and takeaways are important components of proposals, along with a course outline, any pre-requisites or knowledge required, and instructor biographies. Some suggested workshop topics include:

  • Data Quality Management/Metadata/Best Practices
  • Leadership and Management
  • Professional Development & Certification
  • Open Source or Commercial Geospatial Applications
  • Ensuring Map and App Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities
  • Use of UAVs/Drones
  • Cartography
  • URISA Certified Workshops
  • Other topics of interest to the community

Workshop proposals are due on or before September 23, 2019.

Presentation Proposals: The agenda is developed by reviewing submissions received through the Call for Presentations. The 2020 Planning Committee welcomes the submission of individual papers, complete sessions, mini-workshops, and panel discussions. We welcome topics of interest at all levels, from beginner to expert.  All proposals received will be reviewed and considered for the program.

Presentation Format:

  • Complete session—Comprised of one subject covered by one or more presenters. The expectation is that the depth and complexity of the issue merits the longer time. A complete session is 90 minutes in length.
  • Panel discussion —A panel is a 60-90 minute presentation which encourages interaction and discussion between the panelists and the audience. Panel presentations should include at least three panelists all speaking on aspects of a particular topic.
  • Mini-workshop—A 90-minute seminar, forum, or tutorial presented by an individual or small team on a particular topic. Topics could range from a technical “how-to” to policy and governance.
  • Single presentation—individual presentation that will be scheduled on its own. Each presenter is allotted approximately 25 minutes, including questions from the attendees.

Presentation proposals are due on or before September 23, 2019.

Complete details and online submission forms are posted online: https://www.urisa.org/calgis-call
