Teledyne Optech upgrades Lynx SG with 600 lines per second and real-time LAS file output

February 23, 2016 By Editor

February 23, 2016 — Teledyne Optech is pleased to announce two critical performance upgrades designed to once again give a leading edge to users of its Optech Lynx SG and Lynx SG-S mobile survey systems.

Teledyne Optech upgrades Lynx SG with 600 lines per second and real-time LAS file output

The programmable scan speed of the Lynx SG and SG-S has been increased by 20% — pushing the already industry-leading Lynx SG platform to 600 lines per second. In addition, all models in the Lynx mobile product line now output a real-time LAS file designed for in-field coverage checks and rapid access to the survey data.

“The maximum scanner speed remains the absolute bottleneck for high-resolution surveys, particularly at highway speeds,” said Albert Iavarone, Business Unit Manager at Teledyne Optech. “This 20% boost in scan performance translates directly into higher resolution data at the target, or the ability to collect data 20% faster. The Lynx SG was already the fastest survey-grade mobile system in the world at 500 lines per second. We focused on increasing it even further to 600 lines per second because that is where it matters most for the industry. Higher laser measurement rates are of modest value if the sensor cannot distribute those points in a uniform fashion and add point density along the track, where it is currently lacking. Increasing the laser rate and adding measurements across the track without simultaneously increasing the scan rate just results in large

Higher laser measurement rates are of modest value if the sensor cannot distribute those points in a uniform fashion and add point density along the track, where it is currently lacking. Increasing the laser rate and adding measurements across the track without simultaneously increasing the scan rate just results in large datasets that add no real value to the end user, while increasing processing time and costs for the service provider. By contrast, boosting the scan performance adds point density and true value to Lynx survey projects.” With support for up to 10 cameras, survey-grade lidar

With support for up to 10 cameras, survey-grade lidar precision, continued industry-leading scanner performance, and a productivity-focused Optech LMS processing solution that provides for real-time calibration, boresight, trajectory optimization and control validation, the Lynx mobile survey system is the pre-eminent solution for transportation and civil engineering applications where accuracy matters.
