February 16, 2016 By GISuser

February 16, 2016 — Teledyne Optech is pleased to announce that it will showcase its latest terrestrial lidar solutions for the mining industry at the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) 2016 Annual Conference & Expo in Phoenix, AZ on February 21-24.

Mining professionals are welcome to stop by booth 1808 to check out the new features in the Optech Cavity Monitoring System (CMS) V500. A long-time standard in underground mining, CMS is popular for precisely measuring ore passes, raises, storage bins and other dangerous areas in 3D without putting the operator at risk. The CMS V500 expands into new applications with an integrated camera, making it perfect for inspection and target identification too. Visitors can also see the CMS V500’s completely wireless design, which improves resilience in underground conditions, and learn how its new integrated georeferencing software enables the immediate production of data aligned to the mine’s coordinate system.

For open-pit mines and above-ground surveying, visitors can hear about the Optech ILRIS terrestrial laser scanner, which surveys dangerous or inaccessible areas from ranges of up to 3 km. Teledyne Optech staff will be happy to discuss some of the application-specific peripherals designed for the ILRIS: the Gexcel Open-Pit Mine Monitoring System automatically surveys unstable areas and alerts the operator when changes occur, while the Optech ILRIS UAV solution lets operators perform an ILRIS survey in tandem with a camera-equipped UAV to map mines with both lidar data and imagery.
