Intergraph G/Technology Fiber Optic Works helps Italian broadband provider improve network mapping and management

Huntsville, Alabama, February 16, 2016 – Asco Tlc SpA has selected an advanced telecommunications GIS from Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure to aid in the design, data consolidation and asset management of its growing fiber-to-the-home broadband network in Italy’s Treviso Province and Nord Est area.

Replacing a decades-old infrastructure management system, Asco Tlc SpA will use Hexagon’s Intergraph G/Technology Fiber Optic Works to improve its network design capabilities, operations, geomarketing, reporting and customer service. The broadband provider also plans to use the new system to collaborate and exchange network data with other public entities.

“We required a solution that would enable the consolidation of network data spread over multiple flat files –  AutoCAD and Excel – into a single repository to support analysis of the current network as well as design and mapping of new network assets,” said Stefano Faè, president, Asco Tlc SpA. “Having Hexagon’s Fiber Optic Works in place will enable better geospatial knowledge of our entire network and asset inventory.”

During the first phase of the implementation, Asco Tlc SpA will migrate existing infrastructure data into Fiber Optic Works, map new segments of the network and document changes in the network’s configuration. For the second phase, the company will leverage Hexagon’s GeoMedia Smart Client and Mobile MapWorks to support field activities as well as enable access to simplified data for local government authorities.

“By implementing Fiber Optic Works and other Hexagon technologies, Asco Tlc SpA has a solution that will support its growing technical needs and market share while improving its network data currency and asset management capabilities,” said Tiziano Orsenigo, account manager for utilities and communications, Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure. “We are excited to partner with Asco Tlc SpA as it expands its broadband network and services across the region.”
