Washington, DC– Representative John Culberson (TX-07) today issued the following statement regarding the funding appropriated to NASA in the fiscal year 2016 omnibus bill.
“This is the largest vote of confidence that Congress has ever given to NASA. As CJS Chairman, my goal is to restore NASA to the glory days of Apollo. This funding is a down payment to ensure that NASA will always have the ability to preserve America’s undisputed role as a world leader in space.
“Today’s CJS bill will speed up the return of American astronauts to low earth orbit and the International Space Station. It will also get the deep space SLS heavy lift rocket off the ground as quickly as possible.
“Also, my bill will help revitalize Houston’s Johnson Space Center, because we have significantly increased funding for manned space programs and the Orion manned spacecraft.”
