A new era for @HERE as they bid goodbye to Nokia

Today the company is shifting their global mapping and location technology plans into a higher gear with the backing of the new shareholders: AUDI AG, BMW Group and Daimler AG. Via the HERE blog and HERE Editor-in-chief, Pino Bonetti;

Today, the 6,500 employees of HERE officially bid goodbye to Nokia and shift our global mapping and location technology plans into a higher gear with the backing of our new shareholders: AUDI AG, BMW Group and Daimler AG.

It’s the beginning of a new, independent chapter in our history, which began 30 years ago when we first brought driving-specific digital maps to the car.

HERE forges ahead building the map and moving towards their vision of the live high-definition map – via HERE President Sean Fernback: “The map is evolving into a live representation of the world, giving us a second-by-second view of our cities and road networks. ”
