Earth-i, (www.earthi.space), the master distributor of imaging and data services from the DMC3/TripleSat constellation with a unique combination of very high spatial and temporal resolution, has announced the appointment of Dr. Peter Hausknecht to its team of prominent and experienced individuals from the Earth Observation industry.

Peter, who becomes Earth-i’s Chief Scientist, is a seasoned subject matter expert in Earth Observation.  He has worked with a multitude of sensors and data sets on airborne and spaceborne instruments during his career which has spanned over 25 years.

Dr. Hausknecht holds a PhD in Geoscience from Munich University. He has been a key team member at numerous organisations in the sector including: The German Aerospace Centre, Fugro Airborne Surveys in Australia, and the HyVista Corporation. Prior to joining Earth-i, Peter spent eight years working for Woodside – Australia’s leading Oil & Gas company – as the subject matter expert on Earth Observation and remote sensing.

At an international level, Hausknecht was a founding member of the Oil & Gas Earth Observation (OGEO) interest group and also chairman of the International Association for Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) sub-committee on Earth Observation.

Commenting on the new appointment, Richard Blain, CEO of Earth-i, said: “The appointment of such a key individual in the Earth Observation industry to the Earth-i team underlines the strength and depth of the talent pool we are assembling in this exciting new business.”

He continued: “Peter has unrivalled global knowledge of the technology and applications across many key sectors. This will reinforce our unique ability to meet the requirements and challenges faced by our customers as they seek to fully utilise the imaging and data possibilities of the DMC3/TripleSat constellation, backed-up by innovative value-add services being developed by Earth-i and our partners.”
