Blue Marble to Highlight the Global Mapper Lidar Module at SPAR International and CoastalGeoTools

March 26, 2015 By GISuser

Hallowell, Maine – March 26, 2015 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) will be exhibiting at the SPAR International in Houston and CoastalGeoTools in Charleston, SC the week of March 30th highlighting Global Mapper’s Lidar Module automatic classification and feature extraction capabilities.  Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.

Global Mapper is an affordable and easy-to-use GIS application that is capable of displaying, converting, and analyzing virtually any type of geospatial data. The Lidar Module can process billions of points of Lidar data into terrain models or surfaces with flexible thinning or aggregation tools.   The 3D display tools in Global Mapper enable users to create fly-throughs and perform in-depth visual analysis.  The Lidar module also has excellent automatic reclassification and feature extraction tools.  Combined with the path profile tool for cross section editing Global Mapper can address virtually any Lidar post-processing challenge.

“We are truly excited to be participating in both of these events” stated Patrick Cunningham CEO for Blue Marble Geographics. “These events will offer attendees the chance to see Global Mapper in action and provide insights into how much functionality is available in this low cost GIS solution.”

Blue Marble’s President Patrick Cunningham will be presenting a paper on using Global Mapper to create 3D building footprints at SPAR while Jasmine Bird, an Application Specialist and trainer, will be speaking on the COAST extension for Global Mapper, a tool for forecasting cost avoidance strategies from coastal storm events and sea level rise.
