An event tip of interest about the 2015 GO Open Data conference being held Friday/Saturday, May 1 & 2, 2015 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.

This is now a two day event with the Open Data Hackathon happening on Saturday, May 2 from 9 am – 4:30 pm. One low registration price, TWO FULL DAYS!!!
Sessions include:

Community Data Collaborative – strategy and climate change
There is a need for the whole community to address local-to-global social and community wellness issues.  This session will dive into the climate change and related issues and the role of open data.

Digital Community Ecosystem
The Internet of Everything and digitization of the planet is accelerating exponentially. This session will discuss the ecosystem that drives the information economy and provides models such as the Intelligent Community/Smart Cities that will impact everyone and how open data is a core requirement.

Data Journalism Today
There is an increased need to simplify the explanation of challenges and opportunities to the public using open data (and FOI data).  Data journalism is the new wave of analysing and visualizing data by media who will be leading this discussion in this session.

Education and Open Data
Open data has huge potential to facilitate learning, research, and innovation in education to engage students in creating solutions to “real world” issues in their community. This session will present some of these examples and discuss future opportunities.

Unconference – Real-time Design your own session
You have a burning question you’d like to discuss with your peers – this session is open to you.  You will have the opportunity to pose your questions to the group and people can choose which topics they wish to participate in.  Not happy with your choice – simply move to another table.
