Registration is now open for 2015 GIS in Action

The Washington and Oregon chapters of URISA and the Columbia River Region of the ASPRS invite you to join your colleagues at our combined 2015 Oregon and Washington GIS conference.  Workshops will be May 4 and the conference will be May 5 – 6 at the Hilton Vancouver Hotel and Conference Center in Vancouver, Washington.

Registration is now open for 2015 GIS in Action

This will be a joint conference, combining the annual GIS in Action Conference (sponsored by Oregon URISA and the Columbia River Region of ASPRS) with the annual Washington GIS Conference (sponsored by Washington URISA). Our three organizations have joined together this year to host a single, combined conference that includes the best elements of these well-established conferences!
What’s New?
Registration
The 2015 GIS in Action Conference Committee is thrilled to announce that registration for this year’s joint conference on May 4 – 6 at the Hilton Vancouver Hotel and Conference Center in Vancouver, WA is now open!Register now to join the exciting program of workshops, presentations, contests for posters and students, exhibitors, and networking events.
Hotel
This year the conference will be held at the Hilton Vancouver Hotel in downtown Vancouver, Washington. The Hilton Vancouver Hotel is offering a special room rate of $113 per night for conference attendees.  Click hereto reserve your room through the GIS in Action 2015 Hotel Reservations’ web page.
Rooms booked at the conference hotel by conference attendees are credited back to the conference to offset facility rental fees.  So be sure to use the link above and/or the conference code – GIS WA/OR JOINT, for your reservation.  This ensures that you get the special conference room rate and that the conference gets credit for the reservation!

Vendors
GREAT NEWS! The Vendor Prospectus is now available and vendor registration is now accepted online. The prospectus contains information about rates, registration, exhibit hall configuration, sponsorship opportunities, and other details.
Vendor and professional services exhibits will be in the Heritage Ballroom directly adjacent to the registration area, session rooms, and lunch area.  All session breaks, poster displays, and the vendor’s social will be held in the Exhibit Hall.
The Exhibit Hall at this year’s GIS in Action conference is an opportunity for all attendees to see and discuss the latest advances in GIS, GPS, Remote Sensing, and Surveying technologies with you.

Reminders
Abstracts
Abstracts are still being accepted for the conference. This is your chance to be a part of the program, receive a $60 conference discount and earn professional certification credits. Hurry and get your abstract in bymidnight, Saturday, February 28.
Abstracts submitted will be reviewed in the order that they are received. Presentations will be chosen based on content, message, and fit into the program. Those abstracts received early will be given first consideration for limited program space by the program committee.

The Oregon-Southwest Washington Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) (http://www.orurisa.org/) was founded in 1992. The chapter serves as a forum for professionals and students to meet, share ideas, and discuss local issues in Oregon and southwest Washington.

The Washington State Chapter of URISA (http://www.waurisa.org/) exists for the purpose of recognizing, supporting and encouraging professional growth through continuing education, communication, technical development and service to its members and others in the field of geospatial and information technologies. It is a non-profit association of GIS professionals using geospatial technology to solve problems in state, regional and local government. WAURISA members are from many disciplines and are dedicated to advancing the effective application of GIS technology in decision making and streamlining government operations and services. Other areas in which our members use this technology for problem solving include planning, transportation, public works, the environment, emergency services and utilities.

Founded in 1934, the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is a scientific association serving over 7,000 professional members around the world. Our mission is to advance knowledge and improve understanding of mapping sciences to promote the responsible applications of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and supporting technologies. The Columbia River Region(http://columbia.asprs.org/CRR/index.html) of the ASPRS serves Oregon and Southern Washington members as well as the geospatial community at large. The Region provides support to student chapters, presents an annual technical exchange with the Puget Sound Region, and co-presents GIS in Action annually with Oregon and Southwest Washington URISA.
