A VerySpatial Podcast hits 500

February 16, 2015 By GISuser

Morgantown, WV- VerySpatial, LLC. is excited to announce the release of the 500th weekly episode of A VerySpatial Podcast. Focused on Geography and geospatial technologies, A VerySpatial Podcast has provided a reflection since July 2005 on the ways in which geo has permeated our daily and digital lives.

A VerySpatial Podcast’s hosts, Sue Bergeron, Frank Lafone, and Jesse Rouse, have brought their personal experience and interests, as well as their love for Geography and related topics, to each episode of the podcast. Weekly episodes center around a conversation between the hosts about a topic of interest in the geospatial arena or a conversation with someone involved in the geospatial industry. Just a few of our memorable conversations include the very first interview that VerySpatial conducted, our conversation in Episode 26 with Peter Morville, the author of Ambient Findability; Episode 87’s interview with fantasy author James Owen (The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica); and an exciting interview with Esri founder and president, Jack Dangermond, in Episode 109. Episode 500 includes our most recent interview with Elvin Slavik, Senior Development Manager at Esri and a frequent guest on the podcast.

The hosts hope to share their excitement of Geography and related topics with those who tune in every week to listen. As host Sue Bergeron said, “I think I am most proud that our podcast has offered listeners the chance to hear from people from all over the Geography and geospatial technologies community, from scholars and educators to geospatial software makers and professionals who utilize Geography and geospatial technologies in their careers.” Having released Episode 1 in July 2005, VerySpatial has been providing a unique voice in the geospatial community for almost a decade making A VerySpatial Podcast the only Geography or geospatial podcast that has been running since the early days of podcasting.

“We owe everything to our listeners, interviewees, and sponsors” said host Jesse Rouse. “The podcast has a significant and growing listenership with almost two million downloads to date. It is our listeners’ continuing support that keeps us going.” VerySpatial extends sincere gratitude to those organizations who have sponsored the podcast in the past and made it possible for us to interact with the Geography and geospatial communities in person, including Esri, Exelis Visual Information Solutions, Hexagon Geospatial, MapServer Pro Hosting, and Landmark Information Group.

“These last 500 conversations I’ve been given the gift of understanding and appreciation of the world around me.” said host Frank Lafone. ”I’ve connected with people around the world. I’ve learned more about my industry. And perhaps most importantly, I’ve been given the opportunity to share my thoughts with our dear listeners.” VerySpatial, LLC. will continue to highlight our past and future throughout 2015 as we celebrate a decade of sharing our excitement for, and experience in, Geography and geospatial technologies.
