Latest news on the 36th International Symposium of Remote Sensing of Environment, 11-15 May, Berlin, Germany

October 22, 2014 By GISuser

Message from the chairman of the International Committee On Remote Sensing of Environment (ISPRS-ICORSE), Per Erik Skrovseth

ISRSE has for the last nearly 20 years been the global remote sensing conference highlighting the use of Earth observation for societal benefits. How science can be transformed into valuable services is a key to this symposium. I therefore encourage scientists, governmental and private organizations to present their latest achievements at ISRSE 36 in Berlin 11.15 May 2015 and by that ensure ISRSE continues to make a valuable contribution in expanding the use Earth observation to the benefit of mankind.

Deadline for submitting abstracts extended to 9 November 2014

Due to manifold requests, it has been decided to extend the deadline for submission of abstracts to November 9th, 2014. Please be reminded to submit your abstract before this deadline. You find all details on How to submit an Abstract?.

High Level Keynote Speakers at 36th ISRSE

Several highly renowned personalities of the international Earth Observation community have already confirmed their active participation at the 36th ISRSE 2015 in Berlin. Amongst them are Volker Liebig (ESA), Alain Ratier (EUMETSAT), Barbara Ryan (GEO), Guo Huadong (RADI), Shizuo Yamamoto (Jaxa), and Jan Wörner (DLR). Opportunity to publish ISRSE papers in peer-reviewed ISPRS Journal

The ISRSE Programme Committee, in collaboration with ISPRS, the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, is pleased to offer the participants of the 36th ISRSE the option of publishing their papers in a special edition of the peer reviewed ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

The ISRSE symposium is affiliated with the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). This affiliation enables a special edition of the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing featuring selected contributions to the 36th ISRSE conference. Papers will be fully peer reviewed. This will raise the scientific impact of contributions to the 36th ISRSE significantly. Prof John Trinder, Emeritus University of New South Wales and Prof Björn Waske, Freie Universität Berlin, will be the chief editors of this.

More information on this and on the selection of papers will follow soon.

Travel Support Programme

The 36th ISRSE Organizing Committee is pleased to be able to offer travel support to PhD students and researchers from Europe and developing countries. Travel grants are offered to qualified applicants based on a review of the submitted application.

Funding for the grants is limited, and so not every qualified applicant may receive a grant. Grants are limited to reimbursement of actual travel and accommodation expenses after the conference ends. Please note that the registration fees for the 36th ISRSE 2015 cannot be reimbursed and visa arrangements have to be made by participants.

To qualify for travel support, the applicant must both be the first author of an accepted abstract and having a plausible need for travel support. The detailed application procedures will be published soon on www.isrse36.org
