Dash! Launches Free Location based Transit Alert App

October 30, 2014 By GISuser

Dash! is a location-based mass transit alert service, providing commuters across the United States a easy way to stay on track, and up to speed about their local surroundings.

New York, NY, Oct 29th 2014 – Dash! is a new disruptive application for the iPhone, designed to ease the daily commute by providing timely access to transit schedules and relevant local content.

Dash! features a user-friendly and intelligent interface allowing for automated alerts based on commuters’ proximity to their trains/bus stop using a one-time one-step setup. It maps 9 transit systems (of the top 10 in the U.S based on ridership), enabled by direct synchronization with respective Transit Authorities to obtain real-time status/delays.

Dash! takes the guesswork out of commuting. It leverages vast investments already expended into Automatic Vehicle Location technology (AVL) from transit agencies to provide real-time bus and train departure information based on commuters’ location. This application addresses a market opportunity of 10.5 billion trips taken annually on U.S. public transportation: 35 million trips each weekday. There are over 7,300 organizations providing public transportation in the U.S., making mobile the solution of choice for consumers. No existing app currently targets the daily commuter in this way

Dash! accesses up-to-date train and bus departure information without requiring constant data input. “Set it and Forget it!” helps commuters avoid constantly having to unlock their smartphones and open an app while waiting aimlessly at their stop. Dash! allows commuters to better plan travel around service delays and morning coffee or newspaper. It takes the guesswork out using mass transit and enables a more seamless commuting experience.

About Dash!

Dash! makes mass transit commute hassle-free by providing automated alerts with information on train and bus departures as commuters approach their station. The app provides real-time train and bus status to minimize frustration of missing the train or bus. Supported transit authorities include: New York – MTA and LIRR, NJ Transit, PATH, Washington DC – WMATA, San Francisco – BART, Chicago – CTA, Los Angeles – LACMTA, Philadelphia – SEPTA, and Boston – MBTA.
