ThinkGeo Releases Map Suite 8.0 with Centralized Product Center for Easy Product Access, Native Support of Popular Data Formats, and Many Other New Features

Frisco, TX—ThinkGeo has released version 8.0 of Map Suite, its full line of GIS software components for .NET developers. This major milestone refreshes ThinkGeo’s entire product line with a wide variety of enhancements.  It includes a new delivery mechanism for the Map Suite family of products, new natively supported data formats, enhancements, bug fixes and stability improvements.

Version 8.0 includes the new ThinkGeo Product Center which is a centralized, single application that will give users quick access to evaluations, license activation, daily builds, and more.  It also includes project templates to help users start developing Map Suite applications quickly, as well as direct access to the code samples in the ThinkGeo wiki.

The Map Suite Core, shared by all of the .NET developer controls in the Map Suite family, adds native support for popular data formats such as KML, S-57, CAD formats (DWG and DXF), GPX and Tobin BAS.  It also includes new functionality for displaying real time weather data and weather radar layers.

Another notable new feature in Map Suite 8.0 is the ability to reproject Google, Bing and OpenStreetMap layers and overlays across the entire Map Suite product line.  Beyond that, a wide variety of bug fixes and stability developments have been implemented across the Map Suite GIS product range. Complete change logs are available at the ThinkGeo Wiki (http://wiki.thinkgeo.com), the company’s official online source for Map Suite documentation, reference and learning material.

The 8.0 update includes new builds of all of Map Suite’s major editions, including Desktop, Web, MVC, WPF Desktop, Silverlight, Services and WMS Server Editions, as well as the Map Suite Geocoder and the Map Suite Routing extension.

ThinkGeo’s next major release of Map Suite, version 9.0, is expected in summer of 2015, but developers can expect to start seeing and testing beta features from that release in advance via the daily builds which can now be downloaded directly from the new ThinkGeo Product Center application.  GIS professionals who wish to request specific features or enhancements for the next revision of Map Suite are encouraged to visit ThinkGeo’s Enhancement Tracker at http://helpdesk.thinkgeo.com/ EnhancementTracker, where they can vote on their favorite enhancement ideas and suggest new ones directly to Map Suite’s development team.

For more information about Map Suite, or to download the ThinkGeo Product Center and gain a free 60-day evaluation of each and every Map Suite 8.0 product, visit ThinkGeo’s website at http://thinkgeo.com. New users and existing users alike can discuss and get help with their Map Suite applications at ThinkGeo’s official Discussion Forums at http://thinkgeo.com/forums.
