Scottish World Political Map wins the IMIA Gold Award, Best Digital Data Product on Avenza PDF Maps

July 14, 2014 By Editor

Toronto, ON, July 14, 2014 – The prestigious International Map Industry Association (IMIA) Gold Award for Best Digital Data Product was presented to Dr. Tim Rideout, Director of XYZ Maps, at the 2014 British Cartographic Society (BCS) Annual Symposium gala awards ceremony held on June 26, 2014 in Hampshire, UK.

The Scottish World Political Map shows the world as it may be with Scotland as an independent country after the September 18, 2014 referendum. The map features political colouring with accurate digital hill shading created from over 80 million spot heights, all countries including 2000 cities, international boundaries, time zones, and a panel showing flags of the world. The map is available on the Avenza PDF Maps app through the in-app Map Store which can be downloaded on both iOS and Android mobile devices. The map is also available in printed format directly from XYZ Maps.

On receiving this award, Dr. Rideout remarked, “We hope that this map appeals to both people in Scotland and the near 30 million of Scottish descent around the world. It is a great honour to receive the award and I can say that 100% of our staff hopes it comes to pass! It is exciting to have this map available as a digital product for use on smartphones and tablets in the PDF Maps app.”

PDF Maps is available now on the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store free of charge for personal use. Maps can be downloaded and purchased via the PDF Maps in-app store. For more information about the app, visit the Avenza PDF Maps website at www.pdf-maps.com or the Avenza Systems main website at www.avenza.com. Pricing of each map is set by the publisher and free maps remain free to users through the PDF Maps in-app map store.
