Sygic Releases Completely Redesigned Sygic GPS Navigation

June 19, 2014 By Editor

Bratislava, Slovakia – June 19, 2014 – Sygic has just introduced the next generation of its Sygic GPS Navigation application, available on App Store starting today. Update for Android users will be released in the second half of this year. The new native application, the result of three years’ worth of work, was completely remade from the ground up.

This version is the fourth full overhaul of Sygic’s navigation experience in the 10 years of the company’s existence. The goal for a team of designers, developers and user experience specialists was to create a perfect blend of the best car navigation with natural iOS user experience.

“We’ve come a long way since the first version of Sygic GPS Navigation app back in 2009. In those days there was nothing else like Sygic – the first ever navigation app for iPhone. Late in 2012 a small group of us started laying foundations for what would become the next generation navigation app, with fantastic UI, making it more intuitive for drivers worldwide” said Michal Stencl, CEO of Sygic.

The new Sygic GPS Navigation was designed with map-centric approach to allow users fast access to key features and all important information while on the road. It delivers fresh user-friendly interface, seamless search and enhanced route preview to let users easily change the route according to their preferences. Users of Sygic GPS Navigation, the world’s most installed offline navigation app, will also enjoy even faster installation of maps in the best Sygic application yet.

“It was clear from the number of heated discussions that the team was committed to delivering the best car navigation ever launched. We’ve gone over every screen and every feature to make the navigation exceptional, the maps more beautiful, and search easy to use but refined at the same time. Whether you love it or not, please stay tuned. We have more innovations coming this year, and we believe they are going to change the whole industry,” said Michal Stencl.

The next generation of Sygic GPS Navigation with a design that feels natural and easy to use is available for free* on the App Store. The update for other iOS packages and Android devices is coming soon.

Features of Sygic GPS Navigation include:

  • 3D offline maps that don’t require a data connection
  • Voice Guidance in more than 40 languages
  • Spoken Street Names feature for safe and comfortable drive
  • Speed Limit Alerts and Warnings
  • Dynamic Lane Guidance and Junction Views
  • Interactive Map – tap on any street or POI for more content
  • Real-time Traffic information (in-app purchase)
  • Head-up Display (HUD)  lets drivers navigate without ever taking their eyes off the road (in-app purchase)
  • Premium mobile Speed Cameras warnings (in-app purchase)

Unlike other map services, map data in Sygic GPS Navigation is stored on the user’s phone instead of streamed from the Internet, which means that Sygic users don’t have to worry about running up against their cellular data caps by using GPS navigation or getting lost in an area with poor reception. When Sygic’s users are online, they have access to more useful features like real-time traffic and road incident sharing with other drivers.

* With Sygic GPS Navigation you can enjoy FOREVER FREE: offline TomTom maps, POIs, route planning & free map updates. High quality maps from TomTom and other providers are stored on your iPhone or iPad for use without internet connection.

To get the most of the app upgrade to premium and enjoy lifetime: 3D maps, turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation, lane guidance, speed limit warnings & junction view with lane indicator arrows at complex intersections.
