Rand McNally Launches All-New Trip Planning Tool: TripMaker

June 7, 2014 By Editor

New website goes beyond driving directions with exclusive features and ideas for things to do on the way

Skokie, Ill., June 6, 2014 — In anticipation of millions of Americans hitting the road this summer, Rand McNally has launched a new trip-planning tool on its website: TripMaker®. Going beyond driving directions, the website can create your ultimate American road trip by enabling you to build and manage full itineraries; find interesting places on your way; estimate fuel costs for planning purposes; and print, email, and export trips to any Rand McNally GPS device.

“For generations, Rand McNally has been along for the ride on the family road trip,” said Stephen Fletcher, CEO of Rand McNally. “Today Rand McNally takes the next step in providing a tool that helps travelers plan trips built specifically for them. Enhanced with Rand McNally’s celebrated content, TripMaker® will help folks to enjoy the journey as much as arriving at the destination.”

TripMaker® provides an intuitive interface that guides users in creating, optimizing, saving and exporting a trip. With just a few steps, a customized journey is available!

Rand McNally has incorporated its extensive travel content into a robust feature that assists with exploring options and customizing trips. Users may search Rand McNally’s hand-picked “Things to Do” in several categories: Amusement, Arts & Music, Festivals, History & Heritage, Picture Perfect, Quirky & Oddball, Science & Tech, Small Town Gems, Sports Fan, and The Great Outdoors. Explore and add a few unexpected stops to the journey by using the “Search On My Way” tool, and searching up to 60 miles in all directions along the route. The printed customized itinerary includes step-by-step driving instructions and approximate drive time and fuel costs to the next stop. Once exported to a Rand McNally GPS unit, the trip will be guided with spoken turn-by-turn instructions.

Rand McNally’s TripMaker® is ready to plan your next journey. Visit tripmaker.randmcnally.com.
