InfoWorks ICM, ICMLive and ICM RiskMaster to Assist in Implementing Powerful Real-Time Risk-Based Flood Management Policies

Broomfield, Colorado, USA, June 24, 2014 — Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that Launceston City Council, Australia, has selected InfoWorks ICM, ICMLive and ICM RiskMaster, the industry’s leading operational forecasting, modeling and risk-based management solutions for urban and rural drainage systems, for its flood risk management program. The purchase will help Launceston to harness the power of real-time data, scenario planning and predictive modeling to develop a real-time planning framework for making the most effective decisions on flood risk management and alleviation strategies.

Joshua Coates, Hydraulic Engineer for Launceston City Council advises “Launceston City Council is excited to use InfoWorks ICM to better understand overland flow throughout the urban area. It will allow us to make the most of our GIS data. We are particularly interested in ICM RiskMaster as this tool will be invaluable in the development of our forward capital program.”

The City of Launceston is a local government area of Tasmania, encompassing about half of the greater Launceston area in northern Tasmania as well as a region to the northeast of Launceston, encompassing towns such as Lilydale. Its population of 67,190 is the highest of any Local Government Area in Tasmania. Nestled between three substantial river systems, Launceston is a river city, and its rivers present a major threat of flooding. Well-designed and reliable flood protection is essential to reducing the risk of harm to people and major damage to buildings and infrastructure. The full range of InfoWorks ICM, ICMLive and ICM RiskMaster solutions provides a complete real-time decision making power tool for comprehensive and cost-effective flooding and sedimentation management. Among its many powerful capabilities, the combination will enable the City to quickly calculate the impact of potential flooding events, model the results of different alleviation strategies, and select the best intervention approach.

“Launceston City Council is a great example of a progressive enterprise embracing the power of real-time modeling to best protect people, properties and the environment,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, NAE, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, F. ASCE, President, COO and Chief Technical Officer of Innovyze. “We are proud that the City has selected our smart solutions to help minimize the consequences of flooding and meet its business challenges, and we look forward to being a vital part of its continued success.”
