“GIS Mela is being hosted by GIS India on 11 and 12 October 2014 in Hyderabad as part of the series of events started in 1996. A special feature of this event is reflected in its name itself. It is a Carnival type event reflecting GIS entering daily lives of people with GIS Applications in various fields of public interest” said Maj Shiva Kiran, Convenor.
“Remote Sensing and GIS have percolated into various sectors influencing daily lives of people. GIS has emerged as the key component of good governance. I am glad to be part of this event which enables GIS professionals and decision makers to interact while common people are free to register free for the exhibition” said Dr DP Rao, former Director, NRSC and Padmasri Awardee.
Dr. Swarna Subba Rao, Surveyor General of India ; Dr T.Hanuman Chowdary, former IT Advisor to Govt of AP and other eminent professionals are key note speakers. Bureaucrats and politicians will present planning and development perspectives.
GIS Quiz is being organized for college students along with a session on career prospects.
