Europa Technologies announces new 2014.1 release of global product suite

May 1, 2014 By Editor

Geo-data service provider Europa Technologies has announced a major release of its market-leading digital global map data products. The new 2014.1 version will be available for Global Insight, Global Insight Plus, Global Discovery, Global Elements and Global 360.

This release represents the most up-to-date digital map of the world and includes many political and administrative changes.

The gazetteer of populated places has been increased to over 930,000 locations world-wide. Country, city and ocean names in the Thai and Vietnamese languages have been added, increasing the number of supported languages to nineteen. Designed to be "glocal", the data suite is ideal for international organisations that require a standard product with extensive support for localisation.

For the first time, the global products include climate profiles which provide monthly average temperature and precipitation for each populated place. The addition of this new layer enables new application areas such as travel planning.

Europa Technologies’ renowned global data portfolio is used by Google and many other Fortune Global 500 companies. It is ideal for any international enterprise to use as a global Spatial Data Infrastructure (gSDI).

The new product release is also available by way of Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) through the award-winning viaEuropa platform. viaEuropa provides access to hosted, high quality cartography as a map tile service that can be easily consumed by desktop, mobile and web applications. A free trial of viaEuropa is available.

Europa Technologies’ founder and director Warren Vick said: “Global mapping continues to be an important foundation of our business and has been a gateway to a number of international projects. I am delighted with the updates and upgrades that are available in the 2014.1 release as it further demonstrates our commitment to both maintain and innovate this important product suite."
