API Technologies Introduces a Multi-conductor Cable Assembly Used in Low Earth Orbit Satellites Satellites track commercial aircraft

Orlando, FL May 2014 – API Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:ATNY), a leading provider of high performance RF/microwave, power and security solutions for critical and high-reliability applications, now manufactures a series of multi-conductor cable assemblies used in low earth orbit satellites that track commercial aircraft.  With this introduction, API has increased its capabilities of supporting hi-reliability space applications from itsElectromagnetic Integrated Solutions (EIS) product line, the leader in EMI/RFI components and interconnects.

Designed to deliver dependable operation and cost savings in applications that require high reliability, these multi-conductor cable assemblies are manufactured in accordance with ASTM E595 outgassing specifications.   The space cables have also been 100% tested for continuity, dielectric withstanding voltage (DWV) and insulation resistance.

Ideal for use in satellite communications and telecommunication services, these rugged, corrosive resistant space cables have a minimum lifespan of 20 years and were designed with static dissipation and the ozone layer in mind.

Jason Russolese, EIS director of global sales and marketing, API Technologies said, “These new cable assemblies have passed not only API Technologies’ stringent electrical requirements, but also the highly demanding mechanical elements such as pull testing, contact retention and separation force testing, making them compliant to the customers strict space-level specifications.

API Technologies’ Electromagnetic Integrated Solutions (EIS) line of products include EMI filters and interconnects, ceramic capacitors, specialty connectors and cabling, power filters and film modules, as well as a line of magnetics.

API Technologies’ Electromagnetic Integrated Solutions (EIS) line offers a broad range of vertically integrated EMI/RFI solutions from standard components to complex assemblies. This includes power filters, film capacitors, single- and multi-line filters, and filtered terminal blocks. This is in addition to a broad range of standard and custom magnetic devices (transformers, inductors, chokes, and coils) as well as custom and specialty filtered connectors, cables, and harnessing products.
