U.S. Post Celebrates Earth Day With Sea Surface Temperatures Forever Stamp

April 16, 2014 By Editor

On April 22, the U.S. Postal Service will issue the Global: Sea Surface Temperatures Forever international price stamp. The $1.15 stamp can be used to mail a one-ounce letter to any country to which First-Class Mail International service is available. The stamp will be unveiled at “Community Day,” this year’s Earth Day celebration hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy. Other partners include: the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In addition to the stamp unveiling, over 20 local green exhibitors will showcase their environmental programs and services. Three local elementary schools will exhibit Earth Day artwork and displays in the DOE Forrestal cafeteria. Over 150 fourth grade students from Spark M. Matsunaga Elementary School will participate in a “Scavenger Hunt” seeking environmental information from the exhibits.
