North Charleston Sewer District Chooses Multifaceted Approach to Optimize Rehabilitation, Decrease Operational Costs, Improve Efficiency and Extend Lifespan of Critical Assets

Broomfield, Colorado, USA, March 18, 2014 — Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that the North Charleston Sewer District, South Carolina, has selected the company’s industry-leading InfoMaster Sewer as its enterprise smart asset management solution. The move will provide the District with a comprehensive GIS-centric solution for data collection and analysis, enterprise risk management, predictive analytics and action-oriented decision making to optimize its sewer infrastructure at maximum benefits.

The North Charleston Sewer District serves more than 115,000 people over a service area of almost 60 square miles. The system treats on average 15 million gallons per day through 475 miles of pipe and 61 pump stations.

“InfoMaster will enable us to take a more proactive approach to repair and rehabilitation of infrastructure within the District,” said Phillip T. Sexton, P.E., M. ASCE. “Because we have a significant investment in Esri GIS and are proponents of NASSCO’s standards, it was important to opt for a software package that is both NASSCO certified and runs within the ArcGIS framework. Currently we develop rehab plans manually, but InfoMaster will give us the power and flexibility to quickly prioritize our entire system on an ongoing basis.”

Built atop ArcGIS (Esri, Redlands, CA), InfoMaster Sewer gives utilities critical insight into all enterprise assets, their conditions and work processes, facilitating significantly better planning and control. It lets users leverage powerful business analytics and smart network modeling capabilities in new ways to drive higher productivity and quality while managing costs and increasing operational flexibility. It also provides the framework for systematically analyzing and calculating asset criticality and risk, predicting replacement costs, and carrying out scenario-based planning for infrastructure maintenance and replacement rehabilitation. Armed with these advantages, utilities can create well-engineered condition- and risk-based capital improvement plans, optimize their infrastructures and keep them operating well into the future. InfoMaster Sewer is NASSCO PACP, MACP and LACP V6.0 certified, and includes components to run on desktop, web, tablet, and smartphone environments.

“A strong asset performance modeling and capital planning tool is a critical component of a smart enterprise asset management strategy,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, NAE, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, F.ASCE, President, COO and Chief Technical Officer of Innovyze. “InfoMaster delivers detailed and accurate analyses and reports that help utility managers make better decisions on when to repair, replace, or rehabilitate their critical assets. It also supports them in developing reliable long-term funding strategies for such projects. These benefits help utilities ensure the long-term sustainability of their infrastructures and their ongoing ability to deliver the required level of service at the lowest lifecycle cost.”
