Hoops are front and center in an interactive 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Map created for March Madness by GeoDecisions

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania March 26, 2014 – Are you a bracketologist? Hoops are front and center in an interactive 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Map created for March Madness. Developed by Patrick Empey, a senior graphic information system (GIS) analyst for GeoDecisions, an information technology company specializing in geospatial solutions, the map appeals to both basketball fans and GIS professionals.

“Millions follow March Madness,” said Brendan Wesdock, M.C.P., GISP, president of GeoDecisions. “Using an Esri® platform to provide a GIS perspective of one of the biggest U.S. sporting events all year is both practical and visually exciting. We encourage you to use this map to follow your team’s progress.”

Empey’s 2014 NCAA Basketball Tournament Map illustrates ranked teams color-coded by region, in addition to tournament venues. Featuring multiple layers, the map identifies eliminated teams as the tournament progresses through each major round.

An Esri® ArcGIS Online Specialty Partner, GeoDecisions shared the NCAA basketball map through several social media channels, setting new company records for engagement. Since connecting the map on March 20, the map post has organically registered nearly 3,000 GeoDecisions Facebook views and 60 clicks and 30 interactions on the company’s LinkedIn site.

“Pat’s March Madness map creates new avenues for GeoDecisions visibility and engagement,” said Brian Smith, director of commercial solutions with GeoDecisions.
