Technical Solutions Company to Provide Simulation & Training Program

February 17, 2014 By Editor

RESTON, Va., Feb. 17, 2014 / — Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a national security, health and engineering solutions company, was awarded the second of four options on its prime contract with the U.S.

Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) to provide development of a live virtual and constructive integrated training environment. The option award has a one-year period of performance and represents the second of four one-year options. The second option has a total value of approximately $11 million. Work will be performed in Orlando, Fla.

PEO STRI is the U.S. Army’s acquisition and contracting center of excellence for simulation, training and testing capabilities. The U.S. Army’s SE Core CVEM program provides the high fidelity terrain databases and the static and moving models within them to enable Warfighters to integrate,  interoperate and  "train as they fight" in today’s battlespaces before deployment and action in theatres of combat. During the contract period, the Leidos team has expanded the number of U.S. Army customers and confederates using the SE Core program and terrain databases. Leidos experts have provided architecture analysis, development and technical and management support for the SE Core Architecture and Integration (A&I) initiative. In 2010, the SE Core A&I and the Database Virtual Environment Development (DVED) initiatives were combined into one program – the Common Virtual Environment Management (CVEM) program.

Under the current option, Leidos will continue to develop and provide the operational training terrain databases, common cultural and moving models, and virtual simulation architecture connectivity to meet warfighters’ operational training requirements.

"Leidos is proud to provide simulation and training solutions through advanced technologies to help better equip, protect and train our soldiers," said John Fratamico, Leidos group president.

The company, formerly named Science Applications International Corporation, changed its name to Leidos, Inc. on September 27, 2013 in connection with the spin-off of its former technical, engineering and enterprise information technology business, which has assumed the company’s former name.  Leidos has submitted a change-of-name agreement to the U.S. government to recognize the name change, which is currently under review by the responsible Defense Contract Management Agency contracting officer.
