ComputaMaps Combines with GEOIMAGE

February 17, 2014 By Editor

Cape Town, South Africa and Mouans-Sartoux, France – February 17, 2014 – ComputaMaps and GEOIMAGE two leading producers of geodata for the wireless market, announced their merger earlier today.

The two companies will benefit from a larger shared catalogue of on-the-shelf geodata, an expanded global corporate infrastructure and related distribution network as well as increased production capability through facilities in Cape Town and Tunis. Together, ComputaMaps and GEOIMAGE become the largest geodata vendor to the wireless ecosystem where their products are used for RF planning and optimization. “A merger of our complementary businesses allows us to achieve scale in the production of 3D geodata and focus on the unique requirements of wireless operators as they move to 4G,” said Albéric Maumy, managing director of ComputaMaps. “We will expand our research and development efforts to support corporate growth through product and service innovation.” One immediate area of focus involves SpacEyes 3D software. Originally developed by GEOIMAGE for the urban planning market, SpacEyes is being tailored for use in the wireless industry. A preview will be shown at Mobile World Congress later this month in Barcelona. “Our companies have independently specialized in cartography and have long histories supplying geodata to mobile operators around the world,” said Lionel Laurore, managing director of GEOIMAGE. “Taking intellectual property, related processes and best practices from each entity will enable us to ramp up product development in a way that differentiates us in the market place. Our customers will rapidly see new products and services as a result of this merger.” ComputaMaps and GEOIMAGE now operate under the direction of their previous management – including Albéric Maumy, Justin Hyland, George de Greef and Lionel Laurore – through the LuxCarta holding company. Customers will continue to be served by their existing geodata provider and account team.
