Linux Professional Institute Hosts Exam Labs at SUSECon 2013

October 23, 2013 By Editor

(Sacramento, CA, USA: October 23, 2013) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI: http://www.lpi.org), the world’s premier Linux certification
organization, will offer its popular LPIC-1 certification exams at
SUSECon 2013, November 12-15, 2013, at the Coronado Springs Resort in
Lake Buena Vista, Florida (http://www.susecon.com/). Both LPIC-1 exams
will be available free of charge to paid conference attendees through
the SUSECon scholarship program.

"Building upon our successful experience at SUSECon last year, LPI is
pleased to be a silver sponsor of this year’s event.  The global demand
for IT professionals with proven skills in Linux and Open Source
Software is growing and has even accelerated as these skills are
fundamental to the rapidly developing technology environments of Cloud
and Big Data. The SUSECon scholarship program enables conference
attendees to earn the certifications that demonstrate those skills at no
cost while also participating in any number of state-of-the-art
educational sessions," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI.  Mr.
Lacey added that exam candidates that successfully complete both exams
(LPI-101 and LPI-102) of the LPIC-1 certification are also automatically
eligible to receive their SUSE CLA certification.

For more information on the LPIC-1/SUSE CLA partnership program see:
http://www.lpi.org/cla

Exam labs for the LPIC-1 exams will be available at SUSECon 2013 as follows:
* Thursday, Nov 14, 9:00 AM – 11:45 AM
* Thursday, Nov 14, 1:00 PM – 3:45 PM
* Friday, Nov 15, 10:30 AM – 1:15 PM

Exam labs will be held at the SUSECon testing center at the Coronado
Springs Resort (Room Coronado "M").  To participate in the exam labs
candidates must bring valid photo ID and obtain an LPI ID at LPI’s
registration area: http://www.lpi.org/register

Each of the LPIC-1 exams (LPI-101 and LPI-102) takes 90 minutes to
complete and exam candidates may choose to take one or both of the exams
during any of the exam lab sessions. Details on the LPIC-1 exams are
available at: http://www.lpi.org/linux- certifications/programs/lpic-1

"As Linux continues to gain momentum in the enterprise there is a
growing demand for in-house Linux skills. Certifications from the Linux
Professional Institute are an ideal way for IT professionals to
demonstrate those highly demanded skills," said Michael Miller, VP of
global alliances and marketing, SUSE. "This is the second year that LPI
is participating in SUSECon and we are pleased to make their exams
available free of charge to registered conference attendees through our
SUSECon scholarship program."

LPI will also host an exam cram session during SUSECon to assist
conference attendees in preparing for the LPI-101 exam: "LPI EXAMCRAM –
Preparing for the LPI 101 Exam" is on Wednesday, Nov 13, from 1:00 PM –
5:15 in Room Coronado "T" of the Coronado Springs Resort.  Ross Brunson,
LPI Director of Member Services and author of the popular "LPIC-1 Exam
Cram" book (QUE Publishing) will be leading the session.  Mr. Brunson is
also a former Linux Solutions Specialist with Novell.

Conference attendees are invited to obtain additional information on
LPI’s programs from LPI staff at booth #105 in the exhibition hall
during SUSECon 2013.

LPI alumni and friends are also eligible for $100 discount when
registering for SUSECon by entering registration code LPISC13 during
registration at: https://event.susecon.com/

The Linux Professional Institute is globally supported by the IT
industry, enterprise customers, community professionals, government
entities and the educational community. LPI’s certification program is
supported by an affiliate network spanning five continents and is
distributed worldwide in multiple languages at more than 5,000 testing
locations. Since 1999, LPI has delivered over 370,000+ exams and
135,000+ LPIC certifications around the world.
