Google Street View to Map Arlington National Cemetery

October 24, 2013 By Editor

Something via Mashable that got my attention… I suppose I’m not hugely surprised at the headline, however, is this a little excessive? Are we really at the point when we need and want to have street level imagery from within the gates at Arlington? The idea is to create a mosaic of imagery to enable visitors to virtually tour the famous site.

This via Mashable…

Google is also collecting panoramas of the cemetery’s 624 acres, The Washington Post reports.

Arlington National Cemetery is the resting place for more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families. Among those buried at the cemetery are President John F. Kennedy, President William Howard Taft and 12 Supreme Court Justices

The images will be available online in May 2014, marking the cemetery’s 150th anniversary.
