PDF Maps 2.0 for iOS Takes Your Maps Outside and Offline

September 11, 2013 By Editor

An update from our friends at Avenza Systems in Ontario as the crew have just today released PDF Maps 2.0 for iOS. In this latest major update, the company that has changed the way digital maps are used, especially for people that work in the wilderness (firefighters, surveyors, field workers) or those that engage in outdoor activities (off-road vehicles, hikers, mountain-bikers) and have incorporated suggestions made by its users to enhance tracking features such as real-time tracking and notes on elevation. This makes it an amazing travel accessory for any activity in areas where internet bandwidth is not available or while roaming outside one’s data zone – I think most of us can relate to that one! Some of the latest functionality includes:

  • Tracking real-time movement with GPS which includes noting speed and elevation statistics
  • Saving, exporting and importing tracks in KML format
  • Saving measurements to line data as well as importing and exporting lines in KML format
  • “Map Features” list for easy organization of placemarks, lines and tracks including folder enhancements
  • Improved export accuracy
