New iPhone 5 Side-by-Side and Which iPhone to Buy, the 5S or 5C? Here's some tips

September 14, 2013 By Editor

So, the new iPhone 5 will be available to consumers very soon, as will iOS 7. So, which iPhone… the 5S (sexy) or 5C (cheap)? The iPhone 5C and 5S devices will be available very soon so you may be wondering which one to get?

iphone 5S and 5C

Well, the 5S (premium device) is available in 3 colors (black, gold, silver) in an effort to make you feel somewhat Bond-like or special in some way I’m guessing. The 5C comes in vibrant colorful bursts like green, blue, yellow, pink, and white. Both come in 16GB and 32GB models and the 5S also comes in a whopping 64GB option (quite huge and honestly I don’t really see a need for that much space but I guess it’s nice to have. The 5C is reported to be available starting at $99 on a 2 year contract commitment (See carrier to verify) which is a really nice price point. So, what’s the difference in the devices? The 5S will get you the following extra functionality over the 5C:

  • more speed – A7 chip with 64-bit architecture and M7 motion coprocessor (the 5C comes with A6 chip)
  • more cool – Identity Sensor Touch ID
  • more light – True Tone flash (you get LED flash)
  • more pics – Burst mode
  • more video – Slo-mo video
  • more metal as the 5C has a somewhat “cheaper” build with more plastic
  • more space – a whopping 64GB option
  • less…  the 5S is slightly smaller and 20 grams lighter

You make the choice… the Apple fans who want the best will splurge for the 5S whereas those who want a great deal at a nice price point will go for the 5C. Everyone else who recently purchased a 1st gen iPhone 5 will be kicking themselves for not waiting! See more details and complete device specs at http://www.apple.com/iphone/
