North Davis Sewer District Selects Innovyze InfoMaster Smart Asset Management Solution

Multifaceted Approach Will Optimize Rehabilitation, Decrease Operational Costs, Improve Efficiency and Extend Lifespan of Critical Assets

Broomfield, Colorado, USA, August 6, 2013 — Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced that the North Davis Sewer District, Utah, (NDSD) has selected the company’s industry-leading InfoMaster Sewer as its enterprise smart asset management solution. The move will provide the District with a comprehensive GIS-centric solution for data collection and analysis, enterprise risk management, predictive analytics and action-oriented decision making to optimize its sewer infrastructure at maximum benefits.

NDSD collects and treats wastewater from an 80-square-mile area extending from Kaysville City on the south through Roy City on the north, and from the Great Salt Lake on the west to the Wasatch Mountains on the east. The area has a population of approximately 195,000. The District owns and operates the trunk sewers for the area, consisting of approximately 100 miles of sewer collection lines. To optimize its capital improvement program and maintain the highest level of customer service, NDSD retained Brown and Caldwell to initiate a comprehensive risk-based condition assessment program to determine the overall condition of its sewer system and develop a prioritized capital replacement/rehabilitation plan.

“Our facilities are maintained and operated to maximize efficiency and effectiveness,” said Kevin Cowan, P.E., District Manager. “InfoMaster provides an intelligent enterprise management solution with actionable information that meets all the requirements we were looking for. By integrating condition assessment and analytics, the software enables us to fine-tune asset performance and prioritize maintenance, repair, and capital investments. This will help us immeasurably in our drive to optimize our sewer system performance, reduce costs and improve customer service.”

Andrew Fugal, P.E., Principal Engineer with Brown and Caldwell, added, “Its powerful analysis tools and modeling capabilities make InfoMaster a valuable tool for the District’s sewer condition assessment program. Data related to the physical condition of sewer assets can be quickly reviewed, analyzed, and ranked based on a rigorous risk analysis approach. This information is valuable in helping us to reliably plan and prioritize rehabilitation budgets and preventive maintenance and improvement programs. InfoMaster will greatly enhance our ability to help NDSD optimize the sustainability of its growing sewer infrastructure.”

Built atop ArcGIS (Esri, Redlands, CA), InfoMaster Sewer gives utilities critical insight into all enterprise assets, their conditions and work processes, facilitating significantly better planning and control. It lets them use powerful business analytics and smart network modeling capabilities in new ways to drive higher productivity and quality while managing costs and increasing operational flexibility. It also provides them the framework to systematically analyze and calculate asset criticality and risk, predict replacement costs, and carry out scenario-based planning for infrastructure maintenance and replacement rehabilitation. Armed with these advantages, utilities can create well-engineered condition- and risk-based capital improvement plans, optimize their infrastructures and keep them operating well into the future. InfoMaster Sewer is NASSCO PACP, MACP and LACP V6.0 certified, and includes components to run on desktop, web, tablet, and smartphone environments.

“A strong asset performance modeling and capital planning tool is a critical component of a smart enterprise asset management strategy,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, F.ASCE, President, COO and Chief Technical Officer of Innovyze. “InfoMaster delivers detailed and accurate analyses and reports that help utility managers make better decisions on when to repair, replace, or rehabilitate their critical assets. It also supports them in developing reliable long-term funding strategies for these projects. These benefits help utilities ensure the long-term sustainability of their infrastructures and their ongoing ability to deliver the required level of service at the lowest lifecycle cost. Innovyze is proud to participate in NDSD’s success as a key component of its asset management strategy.”
