3-GIS Continues Mapping the Future by Upgrading to 3-GIS Version 2.1

August 19, 2013 By Editor

Decatur, AL – August 19, 2013 – 3-GIS, a GIS software development company based in Decatur, Alabama has announced they’ve upgraded their software to 3-GIS 2.1. The 2.1 release provides new functionality to the 3-GIS Web user as well as open the door for Android products to use their software.

Built on Esri’s latest 10.1 release, 3-GIS 2.1 will allow users to deploy 3-GIS Mobile on their Android devices, giving them the ability to use Android smartphones or tablets in the field. This is a huge benefit to the 3-GIS user because of the affordability and accessibility of these devices. 3-GIS Mobile will also give the Android users the option to work while being disconnected to a network, which will increase productivity if a network connection can’t be made.

A few other features of 3-GIS 2.1, are increased security, a highly configurable platform to accommodate a variety of utility’s needs, the ability to create features from barcode scanning, the ability to snap features, a world geocoder and the ability to integrate with a variety of high accuracy gps devices.

More exciting features of 3-GIS 2.1 include blown fiber management and duct space management options. These are two important milestones for 3-GIS in the telecommunication field, due to the amount of fiber infrastructure that is being design and built around the world.

“Network Technology is advancing quicker than ever before and we are committed to keep our tools advancing to meet our client’s needs. Our clients have requirements of recording their network location at the cm level and our telecom clients are developing designs and building networks in days, instead of months and years,” says 3-GIS Chief Technical Officer, Tommy Siniard. “Higher market demands push us to create better products, and that is exactly what we are doing.”
