Intrepid sailors take to the waves again at the Esri UC

July 23, 2013 By Editor

During this year’s Esri User Conference, users and partners of Intrepid, the oil & gas pipeline GIS planning and management software were once again to be found sailing the remarkable Stars and Stripes across the San Diego bay.

The Stars and Stripes USA-11 was one of four boats commissioned by the Sail America Foundation to support Dennis Conner in his ambition to win the America’s Cup. Measuring 78 feet long and crewed by a dedicated band of volunteers, the boat is a thrilling way to see the beautiful southern Californian coastline.

Intrepid, developed exclusively in partnership with Esri software, is used by oil and gas planning and management teams around the world to ensure the safety and smoothing running of their pipeline networks. Utility safety has never been in the public eye more than now and Intrepid is a key tool to manage and monitor these often aging assets.

In what is rapidly becoming a tradition, the annual trip on the Stars and Stripes gives Intrepid users an opportunity to network with each other, swap hints and stories as well as provide feedback and suggestions to the developers.
