Blue Marble Releases Global Mapper SDK v14.2 Featuring New Volume Calculation Functions

July 24, 2013 By Editor

Hallowell, Maine – July 23, 2013 – Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the release of the Global Mapper Software Development Kit (SDK) version 14.2. This release offers many new features and functions for working with volume calculations, LiDAR data, multi-band imagery and much more. Blue Marble’s geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.

The Global Mapper SDK provides a Windows DLL, which allows users to include much of the functionality of Global Mapper within their own software applications. The SDK includes both native 32-bit and 64-bit DLL’s, so users can target any Windows operating system. Global Mapper SDK 14.2 features new powerful volume calculation tools such as the ability to measure the volume difference within multiple area features, report generation, and the ability to measure volumes relative to how the edges of the area feature cut the terrain surface. Additionally, the latest version also provides functionality to measure volumes of area features. This innovative tool can quickly and precisely determine the volume of material in a pile and is ideally suited for applications in the mining or extraction industry.

Also included in the Global Mapper v14.2 SDK release are several enhancements to the scripting features, including support for calculating attributes, splitting layers, and interactively prompting users for files and folders. These great new scripting capabilities make the Global Mapper SDK a powerful extract, transform and load tool for third party applications. In addition, the 14.2 release includes a new Noise Filter. The Noise Filter is a median resampling method for removing noise from image and terrain layers and is an extremely useful for tool for improving the accuracy of your data. The Noise Filter gives you the flexibility to define and control how large the examining area is to speed up processing time.

"We are pleased to release this version update for Global Mapper software developers," stated Blue Marble’s President Patrick Cunningham. "This release really showcases the advanced geospatial analytics capability of the software. We encourage folks to take a closer look under the hood at this release; we think they will be pleasantly surprised."
